Hi, I’m Byron. I’m a graduate student at Colorado School of Mines pursuing an M.S. in Computational and Applied Mathematics. I enjoy solving problems in scientific computing, mathematical modeling, and optimization.
Currently, I’m working as a Graduate Research Assistant within the Martin Group and the Center for Wave Phenomena, where I research compressed data formats for geologic imaging applications and contribute to the open-source library DASCORE.
Previously, I interned at the National Laboratory of the Rockies (formerly NREL), where I developed pyGOBLET, an open-source Python library for testing global optimization algorithms, and contributed to SOOGO, a derivative-free optimization library.
In December 2025, I graduated from Colorado School of Mines summa cum laude with a B.S. in Computational and Applied Mathematics, receiving the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award.
Some fun facts about me:
- I can juggle
- I’m a cyclist - check out my ride heatmap
- I love bad movies
Thanks for checking out my website! While you’re here, check out my projects and resume.
